Who am I?
Carmela Ciuraru’s anthologies include First Loves: Poets Introduce the Essential Poems That Captivated and Inspired Them (Scribner) and Solitude Poems (Alfred A. Knopf/Everyman’s Library). A graduate of Columbia University’s Journalism School, she is on the Board of the National Book Critics Circle and a member of PEN American Center. She has written for the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Boston Globe, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Observer, Google Creative Lab, Salon.com, Guernica, the Huffington Post, the Daily Beast, and other publications.
Every other month, she writes the “Newly Released” books column for the New York Times.
She has appeared on NBC’s “Today” Show, and has been interviewed on NPR, BBC Radio 4, BBC Glasgow, Public Radio Ireland, and Australia’s “The Book Show.” She is a recipient of a Fellowship in Nonfiction from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA). Her next book is forthcoming from HarperCollins.
